A Flawless Summer Wedding at Deer Park Country House, Devon

Deer Park Country House in Honiton, Devon, is a wedding venue that never fails to impress. With its 80 acres of stunning countryside, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a charming Georgian manor house, it’s easy to see why so many couples choose this idyllic spot for their big day.

On 14th July 2024, Deer Park Country House set the scene for a relaxed and joyful celebration, with our talented trio, Over the Threshold, providing the perfect musical backdrop.

The day started with sunshine and smiles as guests gathered in the country house gardens, enjoying the peaceful setting. Over the Threshold kicked things off with an acoustic set at 2pm, filling the air with mellow tunes that matched the easygoing vibe of the afternoon. As the band played, guests mingled, sipped drinks, and soaked in the beauty of the surroundings - a perfect start to the day’s festivities.

The couple made their entrance later with a first dance that was anything but ordinary. They had created a custom mashup of their favourite songs, and their choreographed routine was a real crowd-pleaser. As soon as the medley finished, everyone hit the dance floor, making for a lively start to the evening.

As the night went on at Deer Park Country House, Over the Threshold delivered a high-energy set. Their ability to mix up their repertoire and keep the energy high made the performance a hit with everyone in attendance. Their set also featured three special requests from the couple: Higher Power by Coldplay, Mr. Brightside by The Killers, and Wonderwall by Oasis. Although the band don’t usually perform Higher Power, it went down so well - and they enjoyed playing it so much - that it’ll likely become a regular in their setlist!

Alongside the stunning scenery and historic house, another thing Deer Park Country House is renowned for is its incredible evening food offerings. The venue’s own pizza oven, located in the gorgeous gardens, is always a highlight, and this evening was no exception.

As guests tucked into delicious wood-fired pizzas, they gathered around to watch England in the UEFA Euro 2024 final. Although not quite the result most wanted, the night was still filled with cheers and laughter (and sometimes groans!) as each table reacted to the game’s key moments - sometimes with a slight delay, thanks to the varying live streams!

All in all, this Deer Park Country House wedding in Devon was a day to remember. The combination of a stunning venue, fantastic music, and delicious food created a relaxed yet unforgettable celebration. As always, Over the Threshold were thrilled to be part of such a special day and can’t wait to return to this exceptional venue.
