Radiant Wedding Day Moments at Deer Park Country House: Soundtracked by The Atlantic

Some wedding moments are big - confetti cannons, your name in neon, speeches that have everyone laughing 'til their stomachs hurt.
Others, on the other hand, are quiet and just for you.
For Ellie and Dario, that moment came at the very end of the night at Deer Park Country House, as one of their favourite songs played only to them and to an empty room. A private last dance, just the two of them. No spotlight, no phones - just stillness, and each other.
But before we get to that, let’s rewind...
From Church Bells to Country House
The day began with a beautiful ceremony at the impressive Ottery St Mary Parish Church, rich in history, music, and sunshine. From there, guests made their way to Deer Park Country House - firmly on our list of top Devon wedding venues for live music, and hands-down one of the dreamiest in the South West.
The weather couldn’t have been better: warm, not too bright, and perfect for enjoying the venue’s outdoor space. Guests sipped drinks in the gardens and explored the lawns, while the team prepared inside.
Where Live Music Feels at Home
Deer Park is a dream setup for bands like The Atlantic. It’s sound-treated, has no limiter (a rare and wonderful thing), offers easy access, ample space, and plenty of parking - ideal when you're arriving with the works.
Inside, the ballroom delivers - tall windows, mirrored walls, and a generous dancefloor that gives the celebration room to move. A stage made for what was to come.
First Dance Leads, Floor-Fillers Follow
As the sun dipped and the cake was cut, Ellie and Dario took to the floor for their first dance: Baby I’m Yours by Arctic Monkeys. They chose the recorded version for this moment.
As the last notes faded, The Atlantic launched straight into their first set, opening with Shut Up and Dance, keeping the momentum high and the atmosphere electric. A four-piece, female-fronted band specialising in pop, rock, and indie classics, The Atlantic are known for their upbeat style and ability to connect with every crowd - and this evening was no exception.
From the very first live track, they had guests of all ages on their feet, singing along - setting the tone for the night ahead.
Personal Playlists & Pizza Pit Stops
As with all FPM bands, The Atlantic included a complimentary DJ set between live performances - seamlessly mixed with a playlist curated by the couple. Their song choices reflected more than just personal taste: golden oldies early on to get the parents moving, then late-night floor-fillers for the party crowd.
At 9pm, the band paused while wood-fired pizza was served outdoors, giving everyone the chance to recharge (and kick off their heels, with flip-flops at the ready for tired dancing feet).
Polaroid cameras floated between tables, capturing candid guestbook moments. And as the sun set, the ballroom glowed with candlelight, laughter, and anticipation for the next live performance.
A Dancefloor That Ran the Show
The second live set, from 10 to 11pm, brought the party into full swing. From the front to the back, the dancefloor stayed full - friends made throughout their lives, and family members all dancing together, arms in the air. The band’s energy, combined with Ellie and Dario’s clear love for music, made the night feel completely their own.
The Evening’s Final Embrace
As midnight approached, the band wound down their final DJ set and made an announcement: one last song to close the night - but with a twist. Guests kindly made their way outside to enjoy a nightcap on the lawn, while inside, Ellie and Dario stayed behind for one final, unforgettable moment.
Beyond by Leon Bridges played through the speakers as the happy couple shared a tender dance in the hush of the room, bringing the day to a heartfelt, intimate close.
Hear It Straight from Them
Ellie and Dario lit up when talking about The Atlantic:
What an amazing experience for our wedding day! If you’re debating whether to get a band vs a DJ, we’d fully recommend going for a band! The Atlantic were exactly what we wanted, our vibe and sounded great, good mix of genres and eras too. It kept people up and dancing from the first dance, and we had a lot of fun dancing the night away! We even had a final private dance to wrap up the evening, which let us soak up the moment, so thank you for being part of our day!
