Some venues just feel like home - and for FPM Music Management, Sandy Cove Hotel is one of them. Perched on the rugged North Devon coast, it boasts panoramic views of the Atlantic, with rolling waves, clifftop scenery, and sunsets that stop you in your tracks.
It’s no wonder Sandy Cove is one of our most-visited venues.
Phoebe and Edward chose it for their intimate wedding, inviting just 31 guests for a day that blended seaside charm with several personal touches. And for the soundtrack? Devon’s own Over the Threshold: a three-piece band with years of experience performing across the South West.
"I Do" with an Ocean View
The ceremony itself took place outdoors, with the documents signed, sealed, and delivered overlooking the coastline. With pure blue skies and the ocean stretching into the distance, it was as picturesque as it gets. After heartfelt vows and cheers from family and friends, guests joined Phoebe and Edward for photo opportunities that made the most of the spectacular backdrop.
Stripped-Back Songs & Seaside Drinks
The afternoon unfolded with an acoustic set during the drinks reception. Guests gathered on the terrace with glasses of fizz while Tim, Over the Threshold's frontman, performed stripped-back favourites, the sound carrying effortlessly over the clifftops. With just 26 daytime guests, it felt relaxed, close-knit, and in perfect harmony with the day’s atmosphere.

Wedding Breakfast, with a Twist
The celebrations then moved inside for the meal - a feast that included ham hock terrine, sirloin of Exmoor beef, and sticky toffee pudding.
Dessert wasn’t the only sweet surprise, though. Phoebe and Edward opted for a playful twist: giant caterpillar cakes dressed as a bride and groom, complete with tiara and top hat. A brilliant talking point - fun, personal, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
The Sandy Cove team, as always, had everything running smoothly. They looked after the band just as well as the guests, with fish and chip cones, drinks, and refreshments - just one of the many reasons our acts love returning to this venue.
Beachside Strolls, Live Music, and a Moment Just for Two
As Phoebe and Edward headed down to the beach for a quick photo op, Over the Threshold set up for the evening’s entertainment. By 7:15pm, everyone was gathered once again for the first dance: George Ezra’s “Hold My Girl,” performed live as an acoustic version that was equal parts romantic and moving.
From there, the mood shifted firmly into party mode. Over the Threshold are renowned for their high-octane indie, pop, and rock anthems, and with requests like Baby I’m Yours (Arctic Monkeys), Wouldn’t It Be Nice (The Beach Boys), and Gossip (Måneskin), the setlist kept the dance floor bouncing.
One unexpected star of the night? A pair of futuristic sunglasses - passed from guest to guest, popping up in photos and reappearing on the dance floor throughout the evening, perfectly capturing the fun, free-spirited vibe of the celebration.
Complimentary DJ sets supplied by the band between live performances meant the party didn’t miss a beat. And with only 31 evening guests, the dance floor showed that a smaller crowd can still throw a celebration on a grand scale.
Why Over the Threshold?
As one of Devon’s most-loved wedding bands, Over the Threshold are known for their versatility and charisma. A three-piece lineup with vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, they’re equally at home performing laid-back acoustic sets as they are driving a packed dance floor late into the night.
With years of experience, they know how to read a room, adapt to any moment, and give couples a soundtrack that feels truly personal.
When the Venue and Entertainment Just Click
From a ceremony overlooking the sea to a first dance bathed in golden evening sunlight, and from caterpillar cakes to late-night dance floor anthems, Phoebe and Edward’s big day at Sandy Cove Hotel had everything.
For FPM, it was another reminder of why it remains one of our musicians' favourite venues, and why Over the Threshold continue to be a go-to wedding band for couples wanting unforgettable live music.
