Back in April, Over the Threshold had the absolute pleasure of bringing the noise (and the romance) to Emma and Taylor’s wedding at the ever-stunning Trevenna Farm. Set in the lush Cornish countryside, Trevenna is one of our bands' all-time favourite venues - think natural beauty meets refined celebration, with sound-friendly barns, an open-plan flow, and plenty of space to let the party breathe.
As far as weddings go, this one ticked every box for a live band: a relaxed, music-filled afternoon, a heartfelt first dance, and an evening of high-energy bangers that kept the dance floor buzzing right through to the final chord.
Wedding Music That Mingles
The day kicked off with an acoustic set during the drinks reception - available as an optional extra with any FPM band. As guests sipped bubbles and grazed on canapés in the spring sunshine, Over the Threshold kept things breezy with stripped-back versions of popular tunes.
Afternoon acoustic sets are a great way of elevating the daytime mood without overpowering the moment - it’s background music, but done properly.
A First Dance Made to Measure
As the cake was cut and the lights dimmed, Emma and Taylor stepped onto the dance floor for their first dance.
They’d chosen All My Love by Coldplay - but rather than playing the original track, they asked the band to perform a custom live version. With a rough edit provided by the couple and a bit of collaboration in the lead-up, Over the Threshold crafted a bespoke arrangement that matched their preferred structure and style.
Romantic, atmospheric, and entirely personal, it was the perfect start to the night ahead.
The Evening: Three Sets, One Non-Stop Party
From the first dance onwards, the vibe shifted into full party mode. Emma and Taylor opted for three 40-minute sets, which worked perfectly with the evening schedule, keeping the energy high but giving guests time to recharge between each round of dancing.
The Threshing Barn at Trevenna, where the evening celebrations took place, is a stunning space with exposed beams and plenty of architectural flair.
The first set warmed everyone up with a mix of classic crowd-pleasers, leading into a second set that saw the dance floor fill completely. By the third set, things hit their peak. Live renditions of Sweet Caroline, Take Me Home, Country Roads, and I’m Still Standing (all special requests from the couple) had the entire room singing along, arm in arm. Some guests even broke out choreographed moves, while others went full festival mode, throwing on sunglasses indoors as they danced the night away.
Between sets, the band kept things moving with a DJ playlist curated by the couple - a seamless string of floor-fillers that kept the groove alive.
A Night That Had It All
Great food, golden hour views, a couple madly in love - and a barn full of happy, dancing guests. This was the kind of wedding that reminds us why live music is such a vital part of any wedding day. From relaxed acoustic vibes to late-night dance floor sing-alongs, Emma and Taylor created a celebration that felt totally them, and Over the Threshold were over the moon to play a part.
